Tree Houses
A treehouse, for those who don't know, is exactly what it sounds like: a house in a tree. Of course, a tree house is not meant to resemble that of the Swiss Family Robinson. Instead, tree houses are meant to be places for kids to have a little space of their own on warn spring and summer days. Treehouses are the places where a lot of children go to have their own "homes" and to make up some of their best imaginary stories.
If you do some searching on the internet, you will be able to find tree house plans. Now, these plans are terrific if you already know how to build a tree house. But if you don’t, treehouse plans may seem a little overwhelming. Tree house design is similar to the design of any other small structure. Just like your backyard shed or greenhouse, your treehouse designs must create a sturdy structure that can support frequent use and stand up to all types of weather conditions.
If you don't have a lot of experience in building a tree house, you may want to rely on the tree house builders in your area. Some professional general contractors will agree to building a kid's tree house, but some will not. If you have a contractor that you use often, he or she might be more inclined to do the job for you. If you don't have access to a contractor, call around to places that do build kid tree houses.
There are a lot of different types of treehouses. Many people choose something simple that is basically a roof, four walls and a door. However, if you are looking for something fancier, you can build treehouses to match your home with windows and shutters. Some treehouses come with furniture that fits inside the treehouse; if you want, you can just use a child-size table and chairs in the treehouse.
To make your child's treehouse a vacation place, think about other little amenities you can add. Try making curtains for the windows, or take a plastic child's kitchen out to the treehouse if you have the room. Your child can do all kinds of things in the treehouse, like arts and crafts, that would be very messy indoors. Do a quick search on the internet to get other ideas for your child's treehouse. Just remember that if you come across a Battat treehouse, that is actually a doll house that goes in a tree!
