Horseshoes

Most people know that upside down "U" shaped metal object known as a horseshoe. They even know that they are generally used as a horse shoe. But what a lot of people don't know is how to play the popular game called horseshoes (also called horse shoes). The horseshoes game is relatively easy to play, and it is a lot of fun!

The rules for horseshoes are quite simple. Simply throw your two horseshoes, one at a time, at a stake in one of the horseshoe pits. If you get the horseshoe around the stake, you are awarded a point. Play usually goes until one player reaches 21 points.

Horseshoe supplies are very basic. The only horseshoe equipment you really need to worry about are the horseshoes and the stake. The horseshoe game can be played without a horseshoe court. However, if you want to play the horse shoes game without a court remember that the horseshoes may ruin your lawn.

Horseshoe pitching can be very hard on your lawn, especially if you are playing with metal horseshoes. They will cause dents and holes in your lawn when they land. So if this is a problem, you may want to consider building a horseshoes court. While horseshoe rules don't require it, it may save your lawn. Or, if you don't want to build the sand pit horseshoe court, try buying a horseshoes set that has hard plastic horseshoes. These will not be nearly as hard on your lawn as metal horseshoes will be.

Some resorts and vacation spots have a free horseshoe game that you can try. These places generally use the hard plastic horseshoes since they are not as heavy and smaller children can throw them easier.

There are a lot of things you should consider before you add a horseshoe court to your house. If you have small children, it may be difficult for them to play this game. Metal horseshoes are very heavy, and it is usually hard for small children to pick them up. It is equally as hard for them to throw these objects very far, or to aim at the stake correctly. Remember that any flying metal object is dangerous, and metal or even heavy plastic horseshoes are no different. Be very careful when playing with children present. Never allow anyone, even adults, to stand at the end of the pit that you are aiming at – if a horseshoe slips from your hand, the person could be seriously injured.
